Mee Bodo, which translates to “Foolish Noodles,” refers to noodles that are fried plain without any toppings such as chicken, meat, shrimp, or squid. The Mee Goreng Pak Hassan stall, also known as Mee Bodo, has been in operation since 1969 and uses a traditional recipe passed down through the generations of the Baba Nyonya community.
What sets this fried noodles apart is that it is only garnished with cucumber and sambal. Additionally, customers need to queue to get a fried egg while waiting for their mee goreng to be cooked. Although this mee goreng is very simple, being fried only with bean sprouts, its taste is truly exceptional. What makes it special is that they serve fried eggs cooked with oil from the sambal. The way the eggs are fried is unique and hard to find in other stalls or restaurants.
