Experience the delightful flavors of Halal Chinese Hunan cuisine at Xiang by Nicsmann.

Hunan cuisine, also known as Xiang cuisine, showcases the culinary traditions from the Xiang River area, western Hunan Province, and Dongting Lake region in China. It holds a prominent position among the Eight Great Traditions of Chinese cuisine, celebrated for its bold and fiery flavors, unique aromas, and vibrant presentation. This culinary style incorporates a diverse range of cooking techniques, including frying, stewing, pot-roasting, braising, and smoking, resulting in a delightful array of dishes that tantalize the taste buds.

In the past, the majority of Hunan dishes found in the market were non-halal due to the inclusion of pork as an ingredient. This posed a challenge for Muslims who desired to experience this cuisine. However, a wonderful discovery has been made – Xiang by Nicsmann, a Hunan restaurant located in the One Utama Shopping Center, now offers halal Hunan dishes. This establishment has made it possible for everyone to enjoy the flavors and essence of Hunan cuisine without any dietary restrictions.

Driven by our love for Hunan cuisine, we made the choice to explore Xiang Restaurant during our weekend excursion at the One Utama Shopping Center. The knowledgeable staff recommended some exceptional dishes that became the highlights of our visit. We savored the delightful Xiang’s Chinese Sauerkraut Haruan Fish Fillet, indulged in the fiery flavors of Xiang’s Chong Qing Hot & Spicy Fried Chicken, relished the Signature Beijing Stir-Fried Cabbage, delighted in the aromatic Dry Pot Tofu, enjoyed the tantalizing Xiang’s SiChuan Hot & Spicy Boiled Beef Fillet, and treated ourselves to the flavorful Hunnan Style Lamb Skewer.

Hunan cuisine is renowned for its distinctive and prominent spicy flavors, particularly the aromatic and spicy or sour and spicy taste profiles that define its fame. The careful pairing of ingredients in each dish ensures a harmonious blend of flavors, achieving a well-balanced culinary experience. In comparison to other cuisines, Hunan dishes often incorporate a generous amount of oil during the cooking process, resulting in a darker and richer appearance that adds to their unique appeal.

Our visit to Xiang Restaurant to sample the Hunan cuisine exceeded our expectations. The flavors of the dishes we tried were absolutely delightful, and what made it even better was the fact that Muslim diners could also join us in savoring these intriguing delicacies. It was a truly inclusive and enjoyable dining experience for all.
